Studying Cybersecurity Online in Georgia

Georgia's list is unusually public. Two state universities, Kennesaw State and Columbus State, offer the bachelor's degrees. Georgia Tech offers the only master's. Seven technical colleges and Georgia Military College fill out the associate level. That mix means you can start cheaply near home and still move up inside the state. For national options beyond Georgia, see our best online cybersecurity degrees.

Method

How We Chose These Programs

We include every online cybersecurity program based at a Georgia school that we could verify on the school's own pages, then group them by degree level and order each group with our published method. Prices, credits, start dates and exam rules come from those pages, checked in October 2026. You can read the full method on the methodology page.

Online Associate Degrees Ranked

8 programs, ranked against each other.

  1. 1

    Associate

    Albany Technical College

Cybersecurity Degree (Associate of Applied Science)

    School based in Georgia

    • Fully Online
    • Public

Why it ranks #1: 55% of its undergraduates study fully online (the highest share among associate programs on this list) and it charges $107 per credit (tied for the lowest among associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

Admission rests on a high school diploma or equivalent plus minimum ACCUPLACER placement scores, with an entry point every semester, so there's no application season to miss. The 72-credit degree is 14 credits longer than Albany's 58-credit diploma, which prepares graduates as Information Security Specialists. Choose the degree if you want Implementing Operating Systems Security and the extra coursework on your transcript.

    Associate

    Central Georgia Technical College

    Cybersecurity (Associate Degree)

    School based in Georgia

    • Fully Online
    • Public

Why it ranks #2: its school awards about 21 associate degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (more than 6 of 7 other associate programs on this list) and 50% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 4 of 7 other associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

Students here can enroll at 16 with a high school diploma or GED, which opens a door for younger Georgians and recent graduates. The 60 credits include Network Defense and Countermeasures and Implementing Operating Systems Security. Budget for the $450 per-term fee that sits on top of $107 credits, and for the chance that an exam or hands-on lab needs a campus visit in Warner Robins, Macon or Milledgeville.

    Associate

    Georgia Northwestern Technical College

Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity (IS23)

    School based in Georgia

    • Online With Campus Requirements
    • Public

Why it ranks #3: it charges $107 per credit (tied for the lowest among associate programs on this list) and 61% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 6 of 7 other associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

Georgia Northwestern keeps the plan code IS23 and builds in four-credit courses where the lab work happens: CIST 1122, 2451, 2452 and 2453 each end with a lab final. You can take those finals with an instructor-approved proctor away from Rome, which helps students in northwest Georgia, Alabama or Tennessee. Pick it if you want Network Security and Computer Forensics practice rather than lectures alone.

    Associate

    Georgia Military College

    Cybersecurity Associate of Science (Online)

    School based in Georgia

    • Fully Online
    • Public

Why it ranks #4: its school awards about 29 associate degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (the most among associate programs on this list), but 25% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the lowest among associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

GMC prices a year as 45 quarter hours at an estimated $8,640 with textbooks and materials included, so you can plan books and tuition as one number. Networking I and the lab-based Cyber Information Security I course give you the technical base to build on. The trade-off is timing: terms begin October 13 and January 6, with nothing in between.

    Associate

    Lanier Technical College

    Cybersecurity Degree

    School based in Georgia

    • Fully Online
    • Public

Why it ranks #5: 53.5% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 5 of 7 other associate programs on this list), but its price of $214 per credit is tied for the highest among associate programs on this list.

    In-State Facts

Lanier sits in Gainesville and stacks its cybersecurity offerings like stairs: Cybersecurity Fundamentals certificate, Cybersecurity certificate, diploma, then the degree. You can climb one step at a time and keep your credits. Georgians pay $107 a credit, with tuition billed up to 15 hours, but out-of-state students pay $214, so this suits residents rather than students from other states.

    Associate

    Coastal Pines Technical College

    Cybersecurity (CY13)

    School based in Georgia

    • Fully Online
    • Public

Why it ranks #6: 66% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the highest among associate programs on this list), but its school awards 8 associate degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (fewer than 6 of 7 other associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

Coastal Pines tells online students to expect at least 10 hours a week per course, so a three-course term means about 30 hours of study. The 60-credit CY13 plan from Waycross is fully online. Fees run $361 per term, though activity and accident insurance fees don't apply to every online course. It fits students who can protect a weekly study block, not anyone hoping to squeeze it in.

    Associate

    Wiregrass Georgia Technical College

    Cybersecurity, AAS Degree

    School based in Georgia

    • Fully Online
    • Public

Why it ranks #7: its school awards 4 associate degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (the fewest among associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

Wiregrass maps its 72 hours across six terms, with Valdosta and Online both listed as campus locations, so you can move between formats if your schedule changes. The $1,605 tuition ceiling at 15 hours means a heavy semester costs the same as a 15-hour one. The six-term plan is long for an associate degree, and out-of-state students pay $214 per credit.

Why it ranks #8: its graduates in this field earn a median $48,382, but 41% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (lower than 6 of 7 other associate programs on this list).

    In-State Facts

Georgia residents who want a two-year start in security without a big bill should look here. At $107 per credit, the 72-credit degree comes to $7,704 in tuition before fees. Coursework includes Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Network Defense and Countermeasures, and Computer Forensics. Out-of-state students pay double, and the checklist says some courses rotate between campuses and online, so ask which ones run when.

Start at a Technical College, Then Move Up

The associate level is where Georgia stands out. Albany Technical College, Georgia Northwestern Technical College and four other technical colleges list $107 per credit, and the 72-credit degrees come to $7,704 in tuition before fees.

Georgia Military College is the transfer-minded choice. It says its credits move to dozens of four-year colleges and universities, and it runs on quarters. If you plan to finish a bachelor's, ask the receiving school which credits it accepts before you pick.

The bachelor's options are Kennesaw State University at 120 credits and Columbus State University at 123 credits. Kennesaw also offers a Double Owl Pathway, which lets undergraduates earn the bachelor's and a cybersecurity master's in less time and at lower cost.

Check What Online Really Means Before You Enroll

Several Georgia programs are online with strings attached. Central Georgia Technical College says an online course may require campus visits for exams or hands-on labs, with campuses in Warner Robins, Macon and Milledgeville.

At Georgia Northwestern, the online versions of CIST 1122, 2451, 2452 and 2453 end with a lab final that you take on campus or with an instructor-approved proctor. Lanier Technical College requires at least one proctored graded event per course, with no charge when you proctor at a Technical College System of Georgia school.

Columbus State lists its delivery as on campus, hybrid and online, so confirm that the online version of the degree is the one you are applying to.

Budget for Fees on Top of Tuition

Per-credit tuition is only part of the bill. Central Georgia lists $6,420 in tuition for its 60-credit degree, plus required fees of $450 per term for a full-time load. West Georgia Technical College lists fixed fees of $421 per semester, and Coastal Pines Technical College lists $361 in fees per term.

Out-of-state students pay double tuition at these colleges. The same West Georgia degree that costs $7,704 in tuition for residents lists $15,408 for non-residents.

Georgia Tech's master's charges $373 per credit to Georgia residents and $387 to other U.S. students, plus an online learning fee of $531 per semester at four or more credit hours. Georgia Military College estimates $8,640 a year for 45 quarter hours, with textbooks and materials included.

Look for Labs and Designations When Prices Match

With six colleges at the same $107 rate, the difference is what you practice on. Columbus State runs hands-on learning in its TSYS Cybersecurity Center with Range Force and NetLab, and it is recognized by the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.

Central Georgia holds the same designation through 2028. Georgia Military College teaches its core security course with web-based virtual labs, and West Georgia uses lab simulations to teach risk management.

Course lists help too. Albany, Georgia Northwestern, Central Georgia and West Georgia all list Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics and Network Defense and Countermeasures, so compare the rest of the catalog before you decide.
