Method

How We Chose These Programs

We started with the fully online cybersecurity programs in our database of 247 and kept the ones where the school names artificial intelligence, machine learning or data analytics as a track, concentration or part of the degree title. Each program is then ordered by the same measured factors we use on every list: cost, graduate earnings, completion, online experience and credential.

Read the full methodology for how those factors are measured. Pricing, courses and admission rules come from each school's own program and catalog pages, checked on October 7, 2026. For a broader view of the field, see our list of online master's degrees in cybersecurity.

How to Tell Real AI Coursework From a Label

Schools use "AI" in three different ways, and the difference changes what you learn. The first is a degree built around it. Capella's Cybersecurity and Applied AI master's puts both subjects in one curriculum, with virtual labs and a capstone after 11 core courses.

The second is a track you choose. Sam Houston State has a Cybersecurity track and an Artificial Intelligence track. Regent offers an Artificial Intelligence concentration, Tulane has a Data and Artificial Intelligence specialty, and Johns Hopkins has Cyber Artificial Intelligence. You decide how deep to go.

The third is a tool or an option. SNHU says its labs use AI-enabled security tools, and it lists Generative AI among its concentrations. National American University treats AI and machine learning as one focus area inside an information technology degree. Before you apply, ask for the course list for the AI path and count the required classes.

Matching the Degree to Where You Start

Admission rules tell you who each program expects. Tulane's Fundamentals track admits applicants without a technology background, but you'll still interview with the program director and write a 500-word personal statement. Johns Hopkins asks for prerequisite courses completed with a B- or higher, so it suits someone who already has some technical coursework.

Marymount asks for transcripts and a professional resume, and the Data Science track sits inside its 36-credit master's. Capella asks for a 2.3 minimum GPA. Sam Houston prefers a 3.0 or higher.

Purdue University Global's master's is written for people already working in IT, with about 15 hours of weekly effort and a typical finish near two years. If you're starting from scratch, start with the bachelor's options, since SNHU, Purdue University Global and National American University all accept beginners.

What These Degrees Cost Before Fees

Compare the full price, not the per-credit rate. Among master's programs here, Regent lists $20,850 for 30 credits, Purdue University Global lists $25,200 for 60 quarter credits at $420 each, Tulane lists $27,000 at $900 for 30 credits, and Capella lists $35,280 for 48 quarter credits at $735 each. Across all 111 master's programs in our database, the median total is $25,488.

Fees change the picture. Regent adds a $750 services fee each semester, Capella adds a $175 resource kit, and Sam Houston charges mandatory fees on top of $320.25 per credit for Texas residents or $748.25 for nonresidents.

At the bachelor's level, SNHU charges $1,062 per course. Ferris State charges $534 per credit for the first two years and $582 for the last two. The median bachelor's total across our database is $54,780.

Reading the Credential Signals

Two designations show up often. The National Security Agency (NSA) names schools as Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), and Capella, SNHU, Marymount and the Purdue University Global master's all say they hold it. ABET, the accreditor for computing programs, covers the Ferris State and Purdue University Global bachelor's degrees. Ferris says it is the only ABET-accredited online cybersecurity program delivered fully online.

The CAE designation is tied to the school and a validated program of study, so confirm that your exact degree is the one covered by checking the CAE community list. Certification help varies too. Capella maps its coursework to CISSP and gives eligible students exam vouchers, and Tulane aligns with Security+ and CEH. A CEH, the Certified Ethical Hacker credential, can save up to $8,770 at Capella.
