The best online cybersecurity management degree for you trains you to run security programs, not just defend systems: risk, compliance, governance, incident response and budgets. The master's programs here run 30 to 39 credits at very different prices, and the bachelor's, associate and doctoral options give you a way in at every level. Start with the master's if you already work in IT.

How We Chose These Programs
Programs land on this list when management, business or leadership is the degree focus or a named concentration, and the program is delivered online. We then order them within each degree level using cost, graduate earnings where federal data exists, completion, and the online format, the same way every other list on this site is scored.
Admissions rules, tuition and course names come from each school's own program pages, which we re-check before every edition. Read the full scoring rules on the methodology page. If you want a pure cost view of the same field, see the best affordable online cybersecurity degrees.

Why it ranks #1: its graduates in this field earn a median $145,009, 100% of its graduate students study fully online (the highest share among master's programs on this list), and its school awards about 98 master's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (more than 8 of 9 other master's programs on this list).
Management focusCompliance and risk are the spine here, with Security Regulations and Compliance Management, Managing Risk in IT Organizations and an IS Management Capstone closing it out. That makes it a strong pick for an IT person stepping into audit-facing or program-owner work. You take one or two courses per 7-week term, and no GMAT or GRE is asked for. It teaches little hands-on attack and defense work.

Why it ranks #2: it charges $495.70 per credit (the lowest among master's programs on this list) and 87% of its graduate students study fully online (a higher share than 5 of 9 other master's programs on this list).
Management focusManagement is optional here, which sets it apart on a management list. You choose a technical specialization or a security management and compliance one, so the same 30 credits can lean toward Offensive Security and Digital Forensics or toward oversight. Pick it if you already code or administer systems and want the NSA-designated name. Expect a 3.0 GPA bar, and a $117.70 delivery fee for non-residents in computer science courses.

University of Maryland Global Campus
Cybersecurity Management and Policy Master of Science
School based in Maryland

Why it ranks #3: its school awards about 1,004 master's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (the most among master's programs on this list) and 95% of its graduate students study fully online (a higher share than 8 of 9 other master's programs on this list).
Management focusPolicy is the point of this one: setting security rules, assessing risk and running a program other people carry out day to day, then pulling it together in a capstone course. It suits government staff, contractors and military members who already work around federal requirements and want the title that goes with it. Skip it if you want lab time. Master's
Murray State University
Master of Science in Cybersecurity Management
School based in Kentucky
- Fully Online
- Public
Why it ranks #4: 67% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 7 of 8 other master's programs on this list), but its school awards about 12 master's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (fewer than 8 of 9 other master's programs on this list).
Management focusYou build toward running a security function. Courses move from Cybersecurity Program Governance, Risk and Compliance through Incident Management and Business Continuity and Legal Issues in Information Security, then into a capstone where you draft a cybersecurity program proposal with industry partners. That proposal doubles as a portfolio piece. All fees are folded into the $606 rate, but four fixed start dates mean you may wait for a window.

Why it ranks #5: 72% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the highest among master's programs on this list) and 75% of its graduate students study fully online, but its school awards 7 master's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (the fewest among master's programs on this list).
Management focusTwo embedded graduate certificates, Cybersecurity Management and Cybersecurity Technology, let you choose your lane while the credits still count toward the 33-credit master's. The school is a CompTIA academic partner and points coursework toward Security+, CySA+, CISSP and CISM, so a manager can stack credentials as they go. Six starts a year is handy. Budget for the extra $100 technology fee each term.

Why it ranks #6: its school awards about 75 master's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (more than 7 of 9 other master's programs on this list), but 50% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (lower than 6 of 8 other master's programs on this list).
Management focusFour-week courses and a choice of Enterprise Cybersecurity Management, Ethical Hacking and Pen Testing, Digital Forensics or Cloud Security make this a degree you can tilt toward management without giving up hands-on practice, since tools are shown in virtual labs. Admission includes an advisor interview, and the pace is quick, so a missed week hurts. It has a $135 material fee per course.

School based in Maryland

Why it ranks #7: 93% of its graduate students study fully online (a higher share than 6 of 9 other master's programs on this list), but its price of $1,500 per credit is the highest among master's programs on this list.
Management focusA practitioner's degree rather than a manager's one, though Security Leadership Essentials for Managers and a Security Leadership focus are on the menu. The coursework is SANS training taken for graduate credit, with GIAC exams included in tuition and a NetWars practicum near the end. You must already work in security. Ferris State University
Master of Science in Information Security and Intelligence
School based in Michigan

Why it ranks #8: 64% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 6 of 8 other master's programs on this list), but at $817 per credit it costs more than 7 of 9 other master's programs on this list.
Management focusThree stackable graduate certificates make it possible to earn one block, get it reimbursed, then decide whether to continue. A thesis or capstone finishes it, and a rare internship course lets you test the work first. Concentrations include Strategy and Governance and Project Management, so it reads like a business security degree. Plan on a GMAT or GRE unless you qualify for a waiver, and a $817 resident rate.

Why it ranks #9: 60% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 5 of 8 other master's programs on this list), but at $884 per credit it costs more than 8 of 9 other master's programs on this list.
Management focusSecurity Economics is the unusual specialization here, teaching you to weigh what a control costs against the risk it removes, which is how budget meetings actually go. Leadership, Offensive Security and Defensive Security are the others. Coursework points toward Security+, PenTest+, CISSP and OSCP, and no programming is required. Some electives add course fees, and you can take up to 12 credits in person if you live nearby.

Management focusA choice between Cyber Risk Management and Compliance and a non-technical Cybersecurity and Privacy of Health Information track gives this degree an unusual angle for hospital, insurance or public-sector privacy staff. The 36 credits end in a 3 to 6 credit internship or a thesis on a real problem. New York residents pay $540.38 per credit against $634.38 for everyone else. It is a lighter fit for deep offensive work.

Why it ranks #1: 67% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the highest among bachelor's programs on this list) and it charges $415 per credit (lower than 5 of 7 other bachelor's programs on this list).
Management focusHands-on penetration testing runs through this degree via the Hack The Box partnership, and the coursework maps to exams like CPTS, CDSA and CJCA. For a management lens, the Information Warfare and Security Management concentration is the one to take. It suits military members and IT staff who can transfer up to 90 credits. Why it ranks #2: it charges $354 per credit (lower than 6 of 7 other bachelor's programs on this list) and its school awards about 538 bachelor's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (more than 8 of 9 other bachelor's programs on this list).
Management focusAdd the Project Management Fundamentals concentration to the general degree and you get a leadership-leaning path at a flat $1,062 per course. Courses run in 8-week terms, labs use AI-enabled security tools, and students can enter national tech competitions. It fits working adults who want a well-known name. The trade-off is that no named certification exam is tied to the coursework, so plan that study yourself.

Management focusChoose Ferris to manage security with an investigator's habits. Tracks cover penetration testing, digital forensics and incident response, data analytics, project management and a foreign language, and Ferris says the degree is ABET-accredited and carries a digital forensics excellence designation. Online, face-to-face and HyFlex formats all exist. The trade-off is a high entry bar: a 3.00 high school GPA, ACT scores and a 750 to 1,000 word essay.

Bachelor's
Columbia Southern University
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Cybersecurity Concentration
School based in Alabama

Why it ranks #4: it charges $278 per credit (the lowest among bachelor's programs on this list) and 100% of its undergraduates study fully online (the highest share among bachelor's programs on this list), but its graduates in this field earn a median $77,738 (the lowest among bachelor's programs on this list).
Management focusThink of this as a business degree that teaches you to oversee security instead of run it. The cybersecurity concentration covers spotting vulnerabilities, writing security policy and cybercrime, and the 11 start dates a year suit managers who can't wait for a semester. At $278 per credit the 120 credits total $33,360. The trade-off is depth: security is one concentration, not the whole degree.

Why it ranks #5: 99% of its undergraduates study fully online (a higher share than 8 of 9 other bachelor's programs on this list), but 38% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the lowest among bachelor's programs on this list).
Management focusThe CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) preparation concentration is the draw, since that credential is the usual yardstick for security managers. Core courses such as Ethical Hacking, Network Security, Digital Forensics and Intrusion Detection and Response keep the technical grounding, and military training or prior certifications can earn credit. Why it ranks #6: 64.5% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 7 of 8 other bachelor's programs on this list), but its graduates in this field earn a median $88,585 (lower than 4 of 6 other bachelor's programs on this list).
Management focusA business-college degree with a real technical middle. Operating Systems Security, Network Security, Cyber Attack and Defend I and Intrusion Detection and Incident Response sit beside the business core, and an optional Digital Forensics minor adds depth. It suits future security managers who want AACSB-accredited business training. Management focusBuilt for people who will write policy and brief executives, this degree finishes with the Cyber Management and Policy Capstone. The courses are designed around industry certification exams, and the competition team and Virtual Security Lab give you a place to practice technical skills. Maryland residents pay $337 per credit and military students $250. The trade-off is $499 per credit for everyone else, so transfer credit matters.

Management focusGovernance or hands-on work? You decide here. Cyber Risk Management and Policy leans toward oversight, Cyber Defense and Cyber Operations get technical, and a self-designed path is allowed. A fully online internship or a senior capstone meets the experiential requirement, and up to 12 credits can count toward a UAlbany master's. The trade-off is that no industry certification is built into the coursework.

Security Leadership is one of six concentrations, and you can take recorded, live online or in-person weeklong courses. How Much Management Is Actually in the Degree
The label "management" covers three different things on this list, and it pays to know which one you are buying.
The first is a governance degree. Champlain College builds around Security Regulations and Compliance Management and Managing Risk in IT Organizations, and UMGC centers on policy and risk. Murray State adds Incident Management, Business Continuity and Legal Issues in Information Security.
The second is a technical degree with a management lane. Dakota State and Tulsa let you choose between hands-on and leadership specializations inside the same degree, so you can decide after you see the first courses.
The third is a practitioner degree with a leadership option. SANS Technology Institute offers Security Leadership as one of six focus areas, but it expects you to already work in security.
Matching the Degree to Where You Are Now
If you work in IT and want to move into audit, compliance or a program-owner role, a governance degree like Champlain's or Murray State's fits best. Neither expects deep offensive skills, and both finish with a capstone that looks like real management work.
If you work with government requirements already, UMGC's policy focus lines up with what you handle daily. If you come from healthcare, insurance or public-sector privacy, Albany's non-technical Cybersecurity and Privacy of Health Information track is the odd one out and worth a look.
If you are earlier in your career, the bachelor's programs below the master's section, such as Norwich and UTSA's BBA, teach the management side alongside the technical base.
Checking Cost, Credentials and Fine Print Before You Apply
Read the per-credit rate and the fee lines together. Murray State folds all fees into $606 per credit, while Saint Mary's adds a $100 technology fee each term and National University adds a $135 material fee per course. A cheaper-looking rate can end up costing more.
Then compare time. Champlain lists 10 months with two courses per 7-week term, while SANS expects three to five years because its students are working professionals taking training courses for credit. Saint Mary's starts six times a year, Murray State only four.
Finally, ask what you will hold at the end. Saint Mary's points coursework toward CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CISSP and CISM, and SANS includes GIAC exams in tuition. Tulsa points toward Security+, PenTest+, CISSP and OSCP. Confirm each certification body's current requirements yourself, since a degree does not replace them. For more on this, see the degrees that prepare you for certifications.
