How We Chose These Programs
A program made this list when its own school page states that the degree is accredited by ABET, and when the degree is delivered online.
Programs are then ordered within their degree level on the same published scoring used across the site, so a bachelor's is compared with other bachelor's programs. Run the program name through ABET's public search before you apply. Read the full approach on the methodology page.
- ABET accreditation stated by the school
- Matched against the ABET accredited program search where possible
- Delivered online
Scores combine seven published factors. The methodology page shows each weight and rubric.

Bachelor's
Western Governors University
Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance
School based in Utah
- Fully Online
- Asynchronous
- Private nonprofit
Why it ranks #1: its graduates in this field earn a median $129,303, its school awards about 2,218 bachelor's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (the most among bachelor's programs on this list), and 100% of its undergraduates study fully online (tied for the highest share among bachelor's programs on this list).
ABET statusTwelve start dates a year and assessment-based courses mean you can begin the month you decide. Foundations of Programming in Python comes early, Network and Security Foundations leads into Applications, and the Cybersecurity and Information Assurance Capstone closes the degree. Sixteen certifications, including A+, Network+ and Security+, come with tuition. Trade-off: no credit total is published, so ask an advisor how much prior learning will count.

Why it ranks #2: 64% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (higher than 4 of 5 other bachelor's programs on this list) and its graduates in this field earn a median $91,678.
ABET statusThe data analytics and project management tracks make this an ABET-accredited fit for someone who wants to analyze threats or lead a security team, not only attack systems. HyFlex lets you attend live from home when you want classmates in real time. Trade-off: you need a 3.00 high school GPA and a short essay to apply, and tuition steps up from $534 to $582 a credit after sophomore year.

ABET statusPurdue Global offers a second version of this degree called ExcelTrack, which is self-paced at a flat $2,500 per term, with a six-credit capstone. The standard version has Python Programming, Ethical Hacking and Intrusion Detection and Response, plus concentrations in Game Development, Data Management and Software Development Using Python. Choose it if you want ABET accreditation with room to specialize beyond security. Terms are quarters, not semesters.

Bachelor's
Ashford University
Bachelor of Science in Cyber & Data Security Technology
School based in California
- Fully Online
- Private for-profit
Why it ranks #4: it charges $460 per credit and 100% of its undergraduates study fully online (tied for the highest share among bachelor's programs on this list), but 20% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the lowest among bachelor's programs on this list).
ABET statusFive-week courses taken one at a time suit someone who finishes things in sprints. Ethical Hacking, Cryptography, Risk Management and Digital Forensics each get their own short block, with lab work and a clear finish line. Credit for military service or job training can shorten the 120 credits. Trade-off: every course adds a $115 technology fee and about $125 in materials, so the cost runs above the listed rate.

Why it ranks #5: it charges $470 per credit and 74% of its undergraduates study fully online, but its school awards 4 bachelor's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS (the fewest among bachelor's programs on this list).
ABET statusLinux System Administration and Introduction to Information Systems Security come first, and build up to Network Defense and Security. Contingency Planning and Disaster Recovery covers keeping a business running after an incident. The NSA has named the degree a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. Part-time students pay $470 per credit, about $56,400 for 120 credits, and a $750 services fee repeats each semester.

Bachelor's
University of Cincinnati
Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity (Online)
School based in Ohio
- Online With Campus Requirements
- Public
Why it ranks #6: 72.5% of its transfer students earn a credential within eight years (the highest among bachelor's programs on this list) and its school awards about 103 bachelor's degrees a year in this field per IPEDS.
ABET statusTransfer applicants need a 2.75 cumulative GPA, plus 24 semester hours earned if they weren't admissible straight from high school, which makes this a landing spot for someone who started college elsewhere. The ABET-accredited online degree pairs 120 credits with paid IT co-op semesters. Trade-off: five years and full-time co-op blocks make it a poor match for anyone who can't step away from a current job.

ABET statusUND holds a National Center of Academic Excellence designation in Cyber Research, and online students can use the Center for Cyber Security Research and the Artificial Intelligence Research Center. That suits research-minded students. Secure Software Engineering and Emerging Threats and Defenses push past tool use toward design. Trade-off: 36 credits at $917.55 each is real money, though out-of-state students pay the same, and no GRE is asked.

ABET statusTuition splits three ways: $135 per credit for Anne Arundel County residents, $317 for other Maryland counties and $459 for everyone else, so the bargain belongs mostly to Marylanders. Security, Networking and Digital Forensics concentrations let you test a direction before committing to a bachelor's. Coursework maps to CCNA, Network+ and Security+. Some courses need a proctored exam at a testing center.

What ABET Accreditation Does and Doesn't Tell You
ABET is a programmatic accreditor. It reviews a specific degree and its curriculum, faculty and outcomes. Regional accreditors such as the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) review the whole institution. The University of Cincinnati, Purdue Global and North Dakota list HLC for the school and ABET's Computing Accreditation Commission for the degree. Both matter, and they answer different questions.
That difference explains why an "accredited university" can still offer a security degree with no ABET review. If a job posting, a licensing path or a graduate school asks for an ABET-accredited degree, the program name has to appear on ABET's list.
ABET accreditation also doesn't say anything about labs, certifications or career help. Western Governors University folds 16 industry certifications into tuition, and Regent University gives online students access to its cyber range. Neither detail comes from ABET, so compare them school by school.
How to Check a Program Before You Apply
Start with the school's page, which is where every listing here begins. Then open ABET's program search and look up the school by name. Confirm the exact degree title, the level and the accreditation commission. For these degrees you should see the Computing Accreditation Commission.
Two details trip people up. First, a school may hold ABET accreditation for an on-campus version of a degree and a different arrangement for the online one, so ask the admissions office whether the online degree is covered. Ferris State offers its degree online, face-to-face and in HyFlex format.
Second, accreditation dates matter. Ask when the program was last reviewed and whether it has a review coming up. A program in good standing today should be able to answer in one email.
Matching an ABET Degree to Your Situation
If you need to start now and have prior experience, Western Governors University begins a term every month and lets you move through courses as fast as you pass them. Purdue Global and Ashford University both give credit for earlier coursework, work training or military service, which can shorten a 120- or 180-credit degree.
If you want job experience built in, the University of Cincinnati pairs its online degree with five semesters of paid IT co-op, so plan on five years and some full-time work blocks.
If you need the lowest bill, Anne Arundel Community College's associate degree is the cheapest here for Anne Arundel County residents, and it points toward CompTIA Security+. Out-of-state students pay $459.
If you already hold a bachelor's and want research depth, the University of North Dakota's master's costs $917.55 a credit and doesn't ask for the GRE. It also adds certificate tracks in ethical hacking and secure networks.
