Verdict
Our Verdict on the M.S.
This is the Champlain master's for people who want to work with security data, not just defend networks. The coursework leans on machine learning, data visualization and threat intelligence, and the capstone has you process real cybersecurity data with scripting and databases.
If you want an analyst's toolkit in about 10 months at $608 per credit, it fits well. If you want to run a security team, the sibling management degree is the better match.
Champlain College is a private nonprofit college in Burlington, Vermont, and it delivers this degree through Champlain College Online. The Master of Science in Cybersecurity Analytics is 30 credits, fully online, and built around 7-week terms. You take 1 or 2 courses per term, and at 2 courses per term the school estimates 10 months to finish.
The school also offers two other cybersecurity master's degrees and two digital forensics master's degrees, so the name on the diploma matters. This one is the data-heavy option. Its courses include Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Data Visualization in Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence, Applied Cybersecurity Analytics and Cybersecurity Strategy and Governance.
Champlain has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security since 2006. Federal enrollment data shows 100% of its graduate students study fully online, so you will not be the only remote student in the room.

Cost
What It Costs, With the Military Rate
Tuition is $608 per credit for Fall 2026 to Summer 2027, which comes to $18,240 across the 30 credits. There is also a one-time $150 graduation fee. Alumni, servicemembers, veterans and their families pay $500 per credit.
Champlain also gives credit for prior learning and experience, and its transfer team looks at prior college credits, work experience and training, and military training. Ask for that evaluation before you enroll, because it is the only way this degree gets cheaper or shorter than the sticker price.
The two other Champlain cybersecurity master's degrees are also 30 credits at the same price per credit, so cost will not help you choose between them.

Fit
Who Should Apply, and Who Should Not
Who It Fits
- Working security or IT professionals who already read logs and alerts and want to get better at finding patterns in them with scripting, databases and machine learning.
- Career changers with a bachelor's degree in any field who like numbers and data work more than configuring firewalls. The admission page asks for a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited school and a 2.5 GPA is recommended.
- Veterans and servicemembers, who pay $500 per credit instead of $608, the same rate Champlain gives alumni and military families.
- Anyone who wants to skip the GRE. The school states that neither the GRE nor the GMAT is required for its online graduate programs.
Who Should Skip It
- Future security managers and compliance leads. The Cybersecurity Management master's at the same school covers risk, regulations and governance as its main subject, where here governance is one course.
- Hands-on defenders who want to attack and defend networks. Champlain's Cybersecurity Operations master's ends in a War Games capstone with two virtual teams, which is a different kind of finish than a data project.
Curriculum
What You Will Study
The five courses the school highlights tell you where this degree is headed. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and Data Visualization in Cybersecurity are the analytics core. Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence and Applied Cybersecurity Analytics put those tools to work on attacker behavior. Cybersecurity Strategy and Governance keeps one foot in the policy side.
The capstone is the clearest sign of what you graduate able to do. In the Cybersecurity Analytics Capstone, students use scripting and database skills to process cybersecurity data, then apply analytics techniques to analyze threats. That is a portfolio piece you can describe in an interview.
Compare that with the siblings. Cybersecurity Operations teaches malware analysis, security testing and incident response. Cybersecurity Management teaches risk, compliance and security architecture. This degree is the one where you spend your time inside datasets.

7-Week Terms and Start Dates
Courses run in 7-week terms alongside the school's 15-week semesters. You choose 1 or 2 courses per 7-week term, which gives you a real dial: one course while work is heavy, two when you want the 10-month pace. The school pitches the program to working professionals.
Delivery is fully online with no campus visits listed, and it is worth asking an advisor how much of each week is on your own schedule.

Credentials
Accreditation and Where It Leads
This is a regionally accredited degree. Champlain is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, and the school holds the NSA and Department of Homeland Security Cyber Defense Education designation noted above.
For earnings, College Scorecard shows a median of $145,009 for Champlain's graduates in this field at the master's level, four years out or the nearest figure available. That number covers the school's field and level, not this program alone, so treat it as a ceiling for Champlain's graduate security cohort and not a promise.

Trade-Offs
Drawbacks to Weigh
- At $608 per credit, tuition is not low for a master's of this length, and the price is the same whichever Champlain cybersecurity master's you pick.
- The program is narrow on purpose. If you decide later that you want a leadership role, you may find the management degree would have served you better.
